How to get into this career ?
There are a variety of paths available. Most enter as graduates. It is possible to start as a school leaver with A levels and complete a 5 year training contract while you’re working. As an accounting technician, you can convert to the ACA and it is possible to convert to the ACA if you have a prior qualification
School Subject Requirements
Good A levels with maths and English and preferably economics and or accounting
Uni/College Requirements
Conventionally, a business degree followed by a 3 year training contract and professional exams to qualify. OR any first degree followed by 2 year conversion course, training contract and professional exams
Alternative routes
School leavers with A levels can work and complete the 5 year training contract followed by the professional exams and qualify. A tough route that often produces excellent accountants.
